History

Mid-Surrey Mencap was formed by a group of parents of disabled children in 1958 .They were concerned that their children were not having their needs understood and being denied opportunities . There was a great need for mutual support.

A great voluntary effort of fundraising and work led to the building of our headquarters Fortyfoot Hall. For over 50 years now we have provided valued services to our members .

We now aim to continue renewing our charity to stay true to the vision of our pioneer members who wanted to offer a place where people can truly be themselves.

To this end our plans to provide a new purpose built centre at Fortyfoot were passed by Mole Valley Council last November .

Unfortunately the start of our building works has been delayed . Your Committee are working very hard at present to resolve the problems with the Project and we will keep members fully informed about progress when we are in a position to update you.
